SMTP and IMAP and CitizenOne
Published by Your own mail server
If you have your own mail server, it is connected directly. Mail is sent and fetched from the organisation's own address, not from an address of ours.
What the integration moves
Outgoing mail is sent through your SMTP server.
Incoming mail is fetched with IMAP and shown in CitizenOne.
Replies are sent from the same address the citizen wrote to.
Setup
How to start using it
What needs doing, and by whom. We go through the steps with you during implementation.
- 1
Enter the server details
Server, port, username and encryption. The same details a mail program needs.
- 2
Send a test
The connection is tested before it is used, so a wrong port is caught straight away and not on the first message to a citizen.
What it requires of you
- A mail account for CitizenOne on your server.
- A server that allows SMTP and IMAP from outside, with encryption.
Where in the system it is used
The modules describe the integration from their own side, because each uses it for something different. Here they are as they appear on each module's own page.
- Secure email
- If you have your own mail server, it is connected with standard SMTP and IMAP details.
Questions
Do we need this if we have Microsoft 365?
No. If you have Microsoft 365, that is the integration to use. SMTP and IMAP are for those of you with your own server.
